Here's how many people were arrested at Miami U's Green Beer Day

OXFORD, OH (FOX19) - On Thursday, Miami University students hit the bars and off-campus house parties that opened before the sun rose and stayed open long after the sun went down for Green Beer Day.

Of the course of the school's biggest drinking day, police made nine arrests and issued 129 citations ranging from underage possession to noise violations.

The first arrest was a male for an OVI who was working as a taxi driver for Swerve'Em taxi, according to police. He was also cited for an open container in a motor vehicle.

Throughout the early morning hours police focused on noisy house parties and performing ID check inside bars, detaining underage drinkers.

Correction: A previous version of this story stated "thousands" of students participated in Green Beer Day. The estimated number of participants has not been determined.
