WALNUT HILLS, OH ( FOX19) - A driver was fatally shot after hitting a 4-year-old boy in Walnut Hills Friday, according to Cincinnati Police.

The child was crossing the 2300 block of Kenton Street around noon when he was struck by a silver car.

Three nearby pedestrians then confronted the driver and passenger, said Sergeant Eric Franz. At some point, an altercation broke out and shots were fired.

The driver of the car was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. His passenger stayed at the scene, according to Franz.

The victim has been identified as Jamie Urton, 44.

The child suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police are searching for three suspects. At least one of the suspects is armed, police said.

"There has been a shooting or several shootings on Kenton this year and so, you know, the police... we have definitely increased our patrols in this area," Cpt. Martin Mack said.

Authorities are investigating the events leading up to the shooting.

"We don't know what the precipitating incident, other than the accident, was in this situation," Mack said.

Anyone with information about the men involved in this shooting should contact the Cincinnati Police Department or CrimeStoppers at 513-352-3040.
