BOONE COUNTY, KY (FOX19) - One person died in a crash on Interstate 71/75 in northern Kentucky Tuesday.

It happened shortly before 12 p.m. in the southbound lanes between Turfway and Houston roads.

A 2010 International Box Truck was headed on southbound on I-75 when it started to have some mechanical issues, police said.

As the truck started to change lanes and merge into the right lanes of travel, police said the truck was struck from behind by a 2008 Chevrolet Owen Electric work truck being driven by 50-year-old Callen Cheesman.

Cheesman, of Union, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police said he was driving an Owen Electric work truck.

The crash caused significant delays and a backup all the way to Covington.

No charges have been filed.

The accident remains under investigation and anyone who may have witnessed the accident is asked to contact the Florence Police Department at (859) 647-5420.
