MT. ADAMS, OH (FOX19) - It was a wild night in Mt Adams and it wasn't at the bars.
A semi hauling a 53-foot-long trailer got stuck in this steep hillside neighborhood's narrow streets after the driver lost his way on the interstate early Thursday.
The driver missed the signs to I-71, wound up on Columbia Parkway and then up into the tight inclines near Mt. Adams Bar & Grill on Hatch Street, according to Cincinnati police.
The massive vehicle hit the side of Tohi Tea Bar & Boutique next door. It also took down a pole, wires and damaged the business awning.
Police and fire crews were on scene for several hours trying to help the driver maneuver his 18-wheeler out.
Officers finally had to tow some vehicles off streets to make room for the semi to squeeze down Paradrome Street to Martin Drive to return to I-71.
They said the driver mostly makes cross-country highway trips. He has little to no experience on side streets, especially ones as small as up in Mt Adams.
He managed to make it out - with a traffic ticket - by 6:30 a.m.
