MASON, OH (FOX19) - In 2016, a study by SmartAsset showed that the average person retires before the age of 65. One woman in West Chester is defying those odds.
Jayne Burns has spent her entire life working.
When Burns tells people she still works at the age of 95, many people's first thought tends to be of an "easy job" like a greeter, but Burns refused to let her age dictate what job she could handle.
Despite the arthritis in her knees, Burns stands on her feet all day cutting fabric at the Jo-Ann's Fabric Store in Arbor Square.
Her co-workers helped celebrate her birthday Wednesday.
"I don't like to sit around and do nothing" said Burns. "I like to be among people and these are the nicest people."
Burns lives with her daughter in West Chester and wants to work as long as she can.
