COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A White Oaks mother is calling for charges against students who allegedly assaulted her daughter at Colerain High School.
Dawnielle Lane said her 14-year-old daughter was chased and threatened by a fellow student Thursday. Her daughter, Dashayla, said she threw the first punch after being cornered by her classmate.
A video of the confrontation shows Dashayla on the ground, being hit by other students while an apparent school employee tries to intervene.
Dawnielle feels the school responded late to the fight and her daughter suffered minor injuries.
"I feel like she is being bullied" the concerned mother said.
FOX19 NOW reached out to the school and had not heard back by 10 p.m. Friday.
The mother said her daughter and another girl were suspended for 10 days with the possibility of expulsion.
Dawnielle said she tried to reason with school officials and told explained why she felt her daughter should not face a suspension.
According to Dawnielle, the school said they had no choice but to discipline Dashayla since she too punched a student.
She also says she tried to file a police report but was told by the school resource officer they are not pressing charges against the other students involved.
