COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Governor Taft has pleaded no contest to
ethics charges that he failed to report golf outings and other
gifts.
Taft was charged with failing to disclose 52 gifts -- including
dinners, golf games and professional hockey tickets -- worth about
58-hundred dollars.
He is the first Ohio governor charged with a crime.
The Republican entered the plea in Franklin County Municipal
Court.
The no contest plea is not an admission of guilt but means the
defendant will not fight the charges.
