A Butler County grand jury has indicted a Middletown man on numerous sex charges against a minor.

Jonathon Utin faces eight counts of Gross Sexual Imposition and eight counts of Rape involving what prosecutors say are multiple victims under the age of thirteen.

Utin, who is a retired teacher from Virginia apparently kept himself close to children according to Butler County prosecutor Robin Piper.  In a release Piper said that he has been molesting children for over 30 years.  The instances that Utin is indicted for in Butler County occurred from 1998 to 2002.

According to the release, Utin taught math and science at a middle school in Virginia.  He was also a gymnastics coach and taught Sunday school at a local church.   He also managed a swimming pool and led students on star gazing trips.  Piper said that the activities he engaged in kept him in contact with children.

"Its just too extraordinary," said Piper in the statement.  "Its hard to keep quiet."

Detectives from Butler County traveled to Virginia to interview a victim.  While they were there they learned of the many other instances that, according to Piper, Utin was involved in.
