(FAIRFIELD, OH) -- Army chief of staff General George Casey visited Fairfield on Sunday, June 3 to welcome home a local Army reserve unit.
General Casey says the 377th Military Police helped keep him safe while he was the top U.S. Commander in Iraq, so he wanted to thank them personally. Members of the 377th served as his bodyguards and escorts while he was in combat command, from May 2006 until he returned in April to work as the Army chief of staff at the Pentagon.
Gen. Casey gave each of the men and women in the 377th a Welcome Home Warrior-Citizen Award, presented to all returning reserve and National Guard troops.
