A new study shows.. the stress of 2020 is driving up the divorce rate. And it's hitting newlyweds.. and couples with young children.. the hardest. People pursuing divorce was 34% higher from March through June this year compared to the same time last year. This is causing people to experience what one doctor calls "quarantine fatigue." That is, the "exhaustion associated with the new restrictive lifestyle that's been adopted to slow the spread of COVID-19." So, what can couples do to avoid letting quarantine fatigue destroy their marriages? In the midst of prolonged stress and uncertainty, remaining in chronic fight or flight mode can cause all kinds of physical, emotional and relational problems. Couples need access to sound advice, resources, counselors and relationships outside of their marriage to maintain a healthy perspective during this season.
