these pictures were taken 44 years ago by Chief Meteorologist Steve Horstmeyer! It was this week back in 1977 The Ohio River froze. It was solid enough that you could walk across it. A blizzard and frigid temperatures were the reason so many people could venture from Cincinnati to Covington. The river was solid for 6 days from January 18 through the 23rd. January 1977 has an average temperature of about twelve degrees above zero and it went down as one of the coldest months on record for Cincinnati. Temperatures got as cold as minus 25 degrees.
