UNION TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WXIX) - A man who police say was responsible for the murder of a woman in Union Township was found dead on Sunday, a news release says.

Fairfield Township Police and Union Township police were attempting to locate a person on Applewood Drive in Fairfield around 10:17 p.m. when they heard a shot fired inside the home, Fairfield police said.

Maj. Rebecca Ervin says SWAT responded to the scene and attempts were made to contact the person inside.

When there was no answer, SWAT entered the home and found the body of 55-year-old William Pratt, Maj. Ervin said.

The Butler County Coroner says he died by suicide.

Union Township police say William Pratt was responsible for the murder of Katrina Pratt.

Katrina Pratt’s body was found inside a home in the 4800 block of Powderhorn Road shortly after 6 p.m. Thursday, August 24, Lt. Scott Blankenship with the Union Township Police Department said.

A criminal complaint filed with Clermont County Municipal Court says the body had visible injuries to the head.

On August 26, detectives made a “controlled call with William Pratt. During the call, William Pratt confessed to killing Katrina Pratt, and his confessions matched evidence observed and collected at the residence,” the complaint said.

Police have not released the relationship between William and Katrina Pratt.

The investigation is ongoing.
