Several employees with the Fifth Third Bank Operations Center were laid off Thursday, according to officials.
According to a Fifth Third Bank representative, there were some reductions in their mortgage staff at the Madisonville location. When asked how many people, Fifth Third said it was "less than 100."
The layoffs were attributed to a recent decline of mortgage finances after a period of record business.
Fifth Third said employees affected by these cuts can apply for openings at other locations.
